Do you love music? Sing and beatbox in the shower? Have dreams of creating your own masterpiece? Come to Beat Lab at the Hive! Play and experiment with instruments, electronically modify your sounds. Learn song and lyric structure as well as the importance of free form experimentation to create unique sounds, songs, and sets. Understand the diverse innovators we owe today’s music to. Explore the elements and roots of jazz, blues, hip-hop, electronic, & more. Students will have the opportunity to come away having created a song, a unique sound, or a mix, depending on how many sessions they participate in. MacBooks, music production software, microphones, keyboards, hand drums, and electronic hardware will be provided, but feel free to bring your own instruments as well. This class will be led by experienced facilitators Kino Benally, Bailey Reid, and Vale Zins.
